I am older than most here and suffer from the fact that my mother was given Diethylstilbestrol (DES) back in the 1950's to prevent miscarriage. Both me and my older sister have weak immune systems which is one of several birth defects this crap wrought on us.
See this for more info: https://www.cancer.gov/about-cancer/causes-prevention/risk/hormones/des-fact-sheet
Did your mother know of the side effects and was this because the side effects were not know at that time?
The side affects were not known at the time. I think it was in the mid 60's that it came under scrutiny and was finally banned in the early 70's.
Well then, I guess your mother did not know.
So its a bummer.
I wonder if (non-medicated/medically prevented) miscarriages are the same % as now v. then?
