The classic cosmologists really don't want to lose the CMB argument. If the CMB is shown to be terrestrial in origin (likely from the oceans), the foundation of all their theories crumbles and it will be shown that they have been manufacturing nonsense models to describe the universe. Credentialism and "consensus science" are used to exclude any heretical theories, as can be seen in this interview where he essentially demands that they produce lists of peer reviewed papers by scientists who are funded by large universities before he will even consider them.
Not sure how long it will take for classical cosmology to die, it could be years or it could be many decades still, but it will die. The magical thinking of Dark Matter and Dark Energy will be cast aside. It will be an exciting time for astrophysics then. The Universe is Electric.
I was referred to this video by Ben Davidson and what you said is exactly what he and others have been saying for years. He regularly highlights new research that reveals problems with current cosmology. This interview brings one of the biggest ones right out in the open.
He calls this video in cosmology.
