I’ve got mixed feelings about doing things like this on the one hand it could do a lot of good, on the other we have no idea what we are doing. We thought DNA was the end all be all of biology but it turns out protein folding has a lot more factors than that.
I agree with you. It is the arrogance of mankind showing here. We figured out a few small pieces of the puzzle of life and think we know enough to be masters of it now. It is too early and too unknown to us to go about playing god and creator. We will see a lot of horrific failure before we get one tiny triumph. I shudder to think what the future will bring when this arrogance takes over fully and we attempt to alter humans in large scale. The human race could very well be brought to the brink of extinction with one misunderstood gene edit. Let's hope ethics prevail over arrogance.
I honestly think the odds are in favor of us using this kind of tech to wipe our selves out, but we have beat the odds a lot of times human history so who knows.
