How many times have you made an appointment with a doctor, only to have him or her spend a couple of minutes with you, perhaps run a few tests and write a prescription off the FDA checklist and send you on your way? Did it solve the problem? Maybe, but more than likely it left you frustrated as to where to turn next for solutions.

A New Approach - Treat the Underlying Cause Not the Symptoms

Functional medicine is designed to take a holistic approach to diagnosis and treatment of illnesses. Functional medicine doctors receive additional training beyond med school and employ innovative testing and methods, including non standard testing, to identify the root cause of your problems. Most importantly, they evaluate the pathology behind what is causing your illness. These doctors assess a wide spectrum of factors such as genetics, diet, lifestyle and your environment to determine the best treatment for your condition. And unlike conventional doctors, functional doctors use a wellness approach to treatment, utilizing nutrition, vitamins, supplements and alternative treatments in conjunction with traditional medicine to resolve your illness.

What Functional Medicine Doctors Treat

Functional doctors specialize in hard to diagnose and treat chronic conditions, including:

  • Metabolic Conditions
  • Fibromyalgia
  • Chronic Fatigue
  • Diabetes
  • Heart Disease
  • Alzheimer's and Parkinsons
  • Intestinal Issues (including IBS, Celiac, Crohns Disease, etc.)
  • Sleep Disorders
  • Arthritis
  • Asthma
  • Allergies
  • Multiple Sclerosis
  • Thyroid and Hormone Dysfunction
  • Female Reproductive Disease

Chronic Illness is Increasing Dramatically in the US

Your ability to live a long and healthy life may depend on a holistic approach to wellness. By the year 2050, the CDC predicts that diabetes rates will double and Alzheimer's will increase 3 fold. Heart disease is also expected to increase dramatically. Most of this is caused by a diet heavy in carbs and sugar and increased toxins in the environment and food supply.

What do you mean by "Traditional medicine"? Surely you're referring to allopathic "medicine" shillee by the AMA, and not the medicinal traditions backed by thousands of years of human usage?
