I learned this the hard way, all my injuries came from testing myself, because I didn't have faith in the process. Had I had faith in the process these injuries would not have occurred, it is because I indulge in too much power that I inevitably break myself.

Power is corrosive, it must be applied gently.

The only time a human is allowed to unlock their supernatural abilities is when they don't desire them. By then you would have reached a certain level of enlightenment where most of your desires would be eliminated.
