In Tai Chi, you must be dumb, not a smart person, not sophisticated. You just go through the motions not thinking about what it means, and this is the correct way of doing it. Letting the lessons come to you as you do.
Like the old Zen koan about the cloud being just a cloud to the beginner, to the student it no longer becomes a cloud, and then to the master it returns to being just a cloud.
