Artemisinin is an extract of the sweet wormwood plant, used in Chinese medicine for centuries as a treatment for viruses, yeast and parasites. It's been used for decades to treat malaria in third world countries. In fact, Artemisinin shared the 2015 Nobel Prize in medicine with Ivermectin (aka Avermectin), for it's effectiveness in fighting malaria and other deadly parasites.

Artemisinin's greatest power might just be in fighting cancer: it has been found to kill approx. 100 cancer cells for every healthy cell in laboratory experiments, 10 times more than the average chemotherapy drug.

How does it work? It's no secret cancer cells, like malaria, contain high amounts of iron. Artemisinin works by binding to iron the the body. One inside the cells, the Artemisinin releases powerful free radicals to kill the cancer. In one study, “it was found that Artemisinin (the derivative), coupled with iron, can kill 98% of breast cancer cells in 16 hours. Alone, the herb caused a 28% reduction in breast cancer cells, but partnered with iron, the duo almost completely eliminated cancer.

In fact, a 2001 study published in Oncology found that by pre-loading cancer cells with iron and then administering artemisinin, the cancer killing effectiveness was almost 100 percent within 24 hours.

.

2006 Cancer Preventative Study

This study found "Artemisinin killed precancerous cells before those cells could develop into a breast tumor. In that study, rats were fed a substance known to cause breast cancer. Then, half the rats were fed a normal diet and the other half consumed food laced with Artemisinin. After nine months, 96 percent of the rats fed the normal diet developed tumors, compared to only 57 percent of the rats fed Artemisinin, plus their tumors were smaller and fewer.

Which Cancers Respond Best

Artemisinin was examined for its activity against 55 cancer cell lines. It was found to be the most active against leukemia and colon cancer and active against breast cancer, melanomas, prostate cancer, CNS and renal cancer.

There's actually quite a few cures for cancer. The issue is we can't cure cancer widely, at least not yet. Right now, there's a big problem with lack of staffing to support geriatrification of the aged among us. Most nursing homes and places like them aren't just understaffed either, they're also staffed with people that don't get paid in proportion to their work and end up doing a really shitty job. In fact, many of them them aren't culturally embedded the same way the elderly they take care of, causing all sorts of divides and further weakening the whole process. So, fixing the problems cancer solves currently isn't an option. As bad as things are right now, they would be made much worse by curing and preventing cancers. Unfortunately, doing so would make the issues worse, much worse, for everyone involved. Hell, there would quickly be a point we'd cross where there isn't even enough (housing) for all of the aged and non-contributive.

So, what needs to happen first is the breakthroughs in reversing aging need to be refined and released. Until people in the scientific community accept that mice do not have long telomeres, however, this won't happen. So, once we get refined and easily marketable age reversal tech or practices out, then we can address subsequent problems. Right now, the more humane thing to do is, as crazy as it might sound, let people succumb to age instead of letting them suffer relentlessly in lonely, tiny boxes.

I'm not sure I fully understand or can appreciate the reasoning either, but this is the reason. I'm sure if you guys have a fix that hasn't already been attempted or thought of, people would be willing to listen, though... But good luck with that.

In Canada, when the elderly can no longer keep up with the group, they just stay behind on the ice alone.

That takes care of it.

Agreed. Look for a post soon on breakthroughs for anti-aging.

Read up on NAD+. Really interesting research going on their. Even the US military is looking at it.

Last I heard Niacin was actually better the NNN and all the other things that that lifeextension Harvard doctor talked about at getting results.
