This is mostly a female social warfare tactic.

Males in the hierarchy that signal virtuous victimhood are actually signalling that they are below the lowest threshold of the hierarchy and are either bullied out of the hierarchy or killed.

This is also why all men have that deep feeling of disgust when they see soccer players bitch and cry over fake injuries. It isn't so much that they are being disengenuous it's that your gut is reacting to the fact that you know you have to kill that thing or it will get the hunting party killed instead.

That isn't to say that men don't use female social warfare tactics, we now have at least a couple of genereations that not only don't know there are male and femal social survival strategies and frameworks but we have a couple of generations of males that have been socialized INTO femal social warfare tactics by being raised in female led schools.

We are going to have to break the school system (amongst many things) to fix this.

That is why leftists push empathy as the chief virtue. When leftists accuse you of lacking empathy, they are really furiously indignant that they cannot manipulate you, you won't accept their hooks in your flesh.

Empathy is an ancillary virtue at best. It is certainly not good in itself or a guarantor of goodness. It can be downright evil. A sadist enjoys the pain of his victims through empathy, while a ruthless manipulator requires empathy to be effective in reading his marks.
