Simply trying to force a hiccup, or constantly thinking about your next hiccup - will get rid of your hiccups. I haven't had more than one or two hiccups at a time in a couple decades since I learned this.
I've also learned you can gauge one's intelligence/focus if you try teaching this to people, and whether or not they get it. If you can't stop your own hiccups by constantly thinking about your next hiccup, you are probably retarded.
