They invented a straw that costs $14. They must be black Jews.

Hiccups are the cure to eating too quickly or whatever you're doing to cause them.

Scam!

To cure hiccups one only has to focus on the "next" hiccup. Here it comes... Any second now...

Works Everytime

Holding the breath usually works, I find. My hiccups are annoying, because they are LOUD.

I do the same, but with a twist. Since hiccups are caused by the diaphragm muscle under the lungs spasming, I take the deepest breath I can before holding it. That way the muscle is fully compressed, at least as fully it can be without invasive surgery.

Yes. I've also found controlling your breathing, particularly slowly exhaling does the trick every time save for a few exceptions where it was a little harder to control.

I was just about to comment on this. I concentrate on making that next hiccup come as much as possible. It never does.

The inventive straw costs $14.

I'll hold my breath.

They say it works, but don't hold your breath.

nice, i c what you did there

[–] 2 pts

It works instantly and the effect stays for several hours

Wait, so it's just temporary? My hiccups are going to come back?

[–] 0 pt

Typical Big Med: only temporary solutions to problems, to keep you coming back for more.

I thought they had a vax for that.

Simply trying to force a hiccup, or constantly thinking about your next hiccup - will get rid of your hiccups. I haven't had more than one or two hiccups at a time in a couple decades since I learned this.

I've also learned you can gauge one's intelligence/focus if you try teaching this to people, and whether or not they get it. If you can't stop your own hiccups by constantly thinking about your next hiccup, you are probably retarded.

Seriously, just interrupt the diaphragm spasms by voluntarily controlling your diaphragm. Hold your breath, control your breathing or just try to force a hiccup. The diaphragm uses the same connections for control, clog up the pathway with voluntarily pulses and the involuntary pulses can't cause your diaphragm to spasm.

A spoonful of peanut butter is still the best remedy imo

Is that what your dog recommends?

[–] 0 pt

...wow. My dog DOES frequently get the hiccups when he's excited, but I've never thought to give him anything to stop them because it's so damned cute when it happens and it doesn't seem to bother him too much... Now I feel like a jerk!

Context clues my dear millenial.

Just say eeeeee (as in weed) aloud and sustain it. Works like a charm.
