The asbestos in the talc is naturally occurring, and the product was/is safe to use as intended (for baby's asses). Apparently J&J (a giant corporation who I'd probably hate if I looked into it more) was supposed to know that women were using the product off label, know that such usage was harmful, and somehow stop them from using it.
This just feels like American sue-happiness run amok yet again. One thing I am sure of is that there are tons of law firms specializing in asbestos litigation whose pool of both victims and defendants is drying up.
So yeah I don't love the corp arbitrarily, and I guess you have to feel for sorry for people who got cancer, but this sounds like more of an unfortunate situation than some crime that that needs redressing.
