It is not simple, it is ridiculous. If I get close to an iron object with a magnet, the object is attracted in a straight line. It doesn't start magically revolving around the magnet. They collide.
It is not possible to create stable orbits with magnetism, because the strength of attraction drops off with the CUBE of the distance, no the SQUARE, as with gravity.
Indeed, it's even more complex than that, because magnetic force is a di-pole, unlike gravity. There is only one direction of gravity - gravity never pushes. However, there are two directions of magnetism. Because of that, at every point in space around a magnet, there isn't just a strength of magnetism, but also a direction of magnetism.
So, magnets are not an example of what we're talking about. Something being attracted to a magnet does NOT experience only two forces - both always at right angles to eachother. The force varies in direction, and the strength increases as the object gets closer, very quickly.
So, objects moving around a magnet do not have that special case, where at some point in the future, they are guaranteed to once again be the exact same distance from the magnet. There are only two possible interactions: they spiral in and meet, or they come together and then move apart after a minimum distance, and only get further and further away, after that. (These are possible interactions with gravity, as well. For gravity, both stable and unstable orbits are possible, depending on the mass, initial distance, and initial speed.)
This is, of course, in a simple/ideal setup, where you aren't holding it down, etc.
Wow! Thanks! I'd never realized magnetism obeyed a cubic law.
I understood very little of that, but gravity is still just a theory, it cannot be explained, just like the water turning the frikken frogs gay. Oh wait, that CAN be explained.

I don't know what you mean by that. But yeah, plastics and birth control are warping tons of species. It's a disgusting pandemic. Needs to be fixed.
Honestly we should probably just start nuking large cities until people go back to a less artificial way of life.

He's not talking about magnetism, nor is gravity related to magnetism.
You are fake and gay
