I don't quite understand what is going on, but it doesn't sound like a "time machine" - it sounds like a process to reform particles into a previous known configuration.

Seems like every pool player "goes back in time" when they re-rack the balls, no?

Having to 'move forward in time' to 'go back in time' makes no sense.

There are two questions here: 1), did the machine require the expected amount of energy to reverse it's calculates. And 2), why is the same paragraph copied in the article twice????

In the experiment an ‘evolution program’ was launched which caused the qubits to become an increasingly complex changing pattern of zeros and ones.

During this process, order was lost – just as it is when the pool balls are struck and scattered with a cue. Another program then modified the state of the quantum computer in such a way that it evolved ‘backwards’, from chaos to order.

its not a time machine. here is a quote. look how they say 'as if'. and no particles arrived from future or were sent away
