Because Antarctica is internationally recognized as a scientific neutral zone. you cant operate below 60 degrees south latitude for any reason other than state sponsored scientific research, according to the the Antarctic Treaty System (with the exception of King George Island) They set it up this way, because world war 3 could have started over oil and gold rights in a desolate shithole on the bottom of the world. Not becuase of ancient alien pyramids and shit.

Why it wont be granted to you? Are you accredited scientist with a resume as good or better than the thousands of other scientist that want to get down there and research? If not, are you worth tens of millions of dollars and willing to blow most if not all of it hiring people that are qualified to operate inland, and setup a scientifically effective paleontology dig? If no to both of these, are you retarded enough to try to boat yourself down there, and try to take a stoll to the pyramids? and no going inland is not anything like the current weather at MacMurdo. How do you not see the absurdity of your position dude. Put down the joint youve gone to far.

You can check it out. You can take a cruise to King George for like 10k, or if youre really rich you can take a crack at a south pole run for 100k. You can sail your ass down there too, and walk to those pyramids and the only thing that will stop you is your mortal body. Im confused as to what you feel like your missing out on, or why you feel shut out of the continent for any other reason than its the most isolated and hostile place on the planet.

To your tangent, IIRC the pope brokered a deal that kept a European war from breaking out over claims in the new world, and no one that could have invaded post colonial Brazil cared to do it, everyone with the budget and stomach for war was focused on European hegemony from the 1800s until recently. Antarctica was contested until the 60s when operating there finally viable and it was noticed there is a lot of oil and gold down there. Cooler head prevailed, and TPTB decided it was better to turn it into a special area for all countries rather than another nuclear flash point with redundant hard to extract resources.
