Who says all 100,000 people knew it was a hoax? If they were trying to get to the moon but couldn't do it, most of those people would still be doing their jobs thinking the part of the project they're working on is going fine. Likely only a few hundred people would know and they'd likely have an eye kept on them to make sure they don't talk.

stop wasting your time on this. look at the flat earth people, they talk in the exact same way, there are literally billions of people who know that the earth is round going back hundreds of years and yet suddenly there are 300 guys who have watched a youtube video and now think it's flat and that NASA is lying to them. This is exactly how the brain can end up going down the rabbit hole and this all still feels completely rational to the person involved.
We see when media lie to us so we start thinking everyone else is probably lying too, but that's not how most people behave.
"The flat earthers talk the same way!" Yeah and so did the Jeffrey Epstein believers for decades before he got arrested. So did the people who believed in the Franklin coverup, NXIVM, Anthony Weiner, and so many other elite pedos. And yeah, the earth is round, not all conspiracy theories are gonna turn out to be true. But pedophiles run our government and use sexual blackmail to control people. Some conspiracies do turn out to be real. Faking the moon landing doesn't require a suspension of the laws of physics like flat earth does.
