>When have you met someone that's touched Linux code.
I have done it for a job. Unix has been around for a long time. Its uses aren't for personal computers, but embedded devices and servers for a long ass time.
>Where is there a single "repo" that you can download and compile, instead of installing from binary
It's all spread out, not in a central location for the average person to make something. There's a reason experienced coders are paid well because they don't always rely on tutorials because they are experienced in the field for 10+ years.
>Where is there a single "repo" that has open discussion
Said above, unix is not just for personal computers and script kiddies, a lot of it is for embedded devices, i.e. smart speakers, routers/modems/standalone network drives, iot, vehicle infotainment, building controllers, digital cameras/quadcopters, kiosks/creditcard machines/atms.. the list goes on...
>It's controlled opposition, hurr durr free software movement to oppose Windows
You can troll all you want. Windows is slouching into destruction by outsourcing their kernel to $10/hr street shitters relying on stackoverflow. Linux offers very minor financial restrictions for development and that appeals to software companies.
