There's got to be a better experiment...why isn't there?
we can think of one, im sure.
it must be done in suspension because there is not enough "run way" to drop an object off a tall building.
I bet if the gentlemen in the tie repeated the experiment, he would have success by putting the balls in a plexiglass cage which was not susceptible to wind
edit: actually, if they put it in a vacuum then heat or cold would not be able to affect it either. a vacuum means the air is sucked out of it. it would even respond better because there is no friction except on the hanging string (tension spring)
Or the other way around, the device in a hermetically sealed box. And then place the weights outside.
