A sudden pole shift would be catastrophic to put it lightly. Also New Madrid fault line. When that one breaks , the US will be torn in half.
No it wouldn't. The magnetic forces are meaningless. There will be some confused birds, that's it. No one even knows how to use a compass anymore. Stop being easily frightened by everything. Just because someone claims something is dangerous does not make it so. Just think about it for a few minutes. Instead of being shocked by some claim that "birds will all go extinct" actually think about how likely it would be that the birds figure it out and find a different way to navigate. Even if they get lost they won't just die. At worst we would have to catch a bunch, move them and release them. Then the next year they would just fly the other way.
Study up on it some more. It would be catastrophic in both weather changes and Earth changes. More than just birds are effected by teh Earth's magnetism.
If that were true then we would already see those changes caused by the polls moving around. We don't see anything change. It is not included in any weather model. Don't believe everything you read.
Magnetic reversals happen (on average) every 200,000 to 300,000 years. It's not a big deal and shit won't go extinct.
The biggest concern is maybe a minor uptick in skin cancer rates due to the temporary increase in solar radiation.
Birds, and everything else, have survived countless reversals already.
