>No, not according to me. It's according to the origin of the word itself.
You're stupid beyond belief
The "origin" of the word "belief", does not equate its actual definition, its meaning....
>Belief is from the anglo-saxon root word "lief" which means to wish. Think about that... People sure have a lot of wishes, but little to no actual knowledge.
And?
Faith is not a strong belief. Belief is thinking something is true regardless of how contrary reality shows it to be.
BULLSHIT!
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Belief
>A belief is an attitude that something is the case, or that some proposition about the world is true.[1] In epistemology, philosophers use the term "belief" to refer to attitudes about the world which can be either true or false.[2] To believe something is to take it to be true; for instance, to believe that snow is white is comparable to accepting the truth of the proposition "snow is white". However, holding a belief does not require active introspection. For example, few carefully consider whether or not the sun will rise tomorrow, simply assuming that it will. Moreover, beliefs need not be occurrent (e.g. a person actively thinking "snow is white"), but can instead be dispositional (e.g. a person who if asked about the color of snow would assert "snow is white").[2]
Now gtfo you clown, belief doesn't equate denial of reality, case closed
Open a dictionary before you spew you next BS
Congratulations on being able to use other's words to provide your argument. No substance whatsoever and not a single original thought in that mind of yours is there? All you are doing is regurgitating xD.
> Now gtfo you clown
Words of a very intelligible individual who clearly has his argument well thought out.... lol
Edit: Sounds like you need a dictionary to speak for you because you clearly don't know how to speak for yourself XD.
Belief is thinking something is true regardless of how contrary reality shows it to be.
Again; I believe Jupiter exists.
Your definition of belief has just been rendered invalid again sorry. You're a fool, case closed
Bravo, I concede to your amazing argument. XD you win!
> Again; I believe Jupiter exists.
Can you prove this? If not, it is merely a belief. You just verified my comment earlier. You admitted you can't say for sure if Jupiter exists, but you believe it does because someone says it does. That was exactly the meaning of:
Belief is thinking something is true regardless of how contrary reality shows it to be
Let me help you out. If you have witnessed Jupiter yourself, and can prove it's existence, it is no longer a belief and a fact.
If you cannot, which is the case now... it is merely a belief, not rooted in fact.
