Can confirm. Potatoes and onions aren't too bad, still affordable. Fruits are insane though. Things like apples, bananas, kiwi, even plums - easily triple the price. Bananas were around 44 rubles per kilo a few years ago, now it's 120+ rubles. Canned goods are fucked wholesale in particular. Milk was about 68 rubles for a liter just last year, now it's at least 100 rubles. Butter was never cheap, at least 120 rubles, but now it's no cheaper than 180, and 200 is the norm. Eggs are at least 100 rubles now - up from 60-80 for a dozen. Meat is especially crazy - both fresh and canned. An increase of 100 rubles for the same weight is a given. As an extra fuck you, they like to not only increase the price, but also reduce the size, so you pay more for less - a trend that's been going on for a long time. All this, and the average monthly salary for most regular positions is still only 20k rubles (which includes pension) - unchanged since the 00's, and you can barely get through the week on that nowadays. They're very slick with employment contracts here - they put in the most pitiful amount they can get away with (20k) as a guaranteed pay, while the rest is expected to be earned through "bonuses" that the employer is free to withhold or just never pay for some nebulous reason if they don't want to. Even people who earn well over 100k rubles a month still find themselves in a poorfag territory due to all the insane increases in maintenance costs of all kinds, plus basic bitch groceries costing like premium foods. The best part? It's only going to get worse. But the ruble is getting stronger guys, it's based on gold now! Fuck off.
