What you got for jazz lines partner?
Wanna trade?
Do you do his chicken pickin technique too where you palm the pick to switch styles?
When I first saw him palming the pick and bringing it back out I thought it would take a while to get comfy and natural but thanks to my years of laziness and not wanting to bend over to pick up a pick, I always tucked it when switching to fingerpicking.
Laziness paid off that time!
The hardest part was I already had like 5 years of fingerpicking w/ thumbpick and had to now control the bass lines with 2 fingers (holding pick) instead of one. Really messed my instincts up but they came around and now its whatever.
Cheers!
I played for many many years without a pick, just started using one 5 years ago again. I kept dropping it, so I switched to these bigger ones https://i.pinimg.com/originals/41/71/60/41716013570a2f16a3f08f23becdb4ae.jpg
I buy 50 no-names on ebay for like 10 bucks (Fenders are like 3 bucks apiece, fuck that), I've yet to drop one!
--I can't hybrid pick to save my life, but I don't care..
Ahhh, Im the opposite, I use tiny jazz picks mostly these days.
Dunlop ultex jazz III (yellowish)
Dunlop plectone primetone jazz III (purplish)
And another Dunlop jazz 3 but in that gunmetal Grey finish with the grip nubs on them
They are like $2 or $3 a piece but the way it shunts the strings and slides off it makes nicer tones (to my ears anyways) when you go to pick.
I know $3 is pricey for a pick, but they feel, play, and sound good IMO.
Especially after playing plastic fender picks, you put a jazz III ultex on that thing and hear the fatness of your tone.
Id mail you one if the glowies werent out to get us and you'd say "I hate how small it is, but I love the sound" as I did when I first heard of them from some shredders.
But comfort is king when it vomes to the picking hand so to each their own.
Cheers!
Thanx for the thought but I drop the goddam things, the 346 is just right. Tried to turn other peeps onto them, they think it's obscene.
