5:40 - True statement about solder tips. I've trained new guys on how to do precision soldering, and they always stop me and say "aren't you going to change to a smaller tip for this??" No! Watch... Honestly, 99% of the time I use a TI-D12 tip for damn near everything, even 0.5 mm pitch pins. Only use the smaller conical tips if I can't physically get in there with the chisel/screwdriver tip.

11:53 - Make sure you're using hot snot that is specifically made for electronics, otherwise it could absorb moisture over time and start to conduct.

All said and done, dude did a great job on this mod. He doesn't leave a rats-nest of wires, everything is routed rather nicely.

One of my biggest pet peeves with regards to soldering and electronics is not cleaning the flux residue. He didn't say anything about that, unless I've missed it. There's a saying in the industry, "No-clean flux is the most popular flux to clean." Some folks say "Leave it there, it's fine!" Well, that depends on which way the wind is blowing that day. No matter what the company selling the flux says, flux residue can change the electrical properties of your circuit. I've seen it happen on numerous occasions. Clean the fucking flux residue or I'll kick you right in the taint.
