Was late to this party...

My first go at Centipede, Pacman, et al., was with , on . The games ran reasonably well on a 486, had all of the sounds intact from what I remember.

Arcades were still around at the time (early to mid 90's), although their popularity was beginning to wane in favor of 16-bit home consoles. Before I had played them on PC, I skipped right over these titles and B-lined straight to the likes of Mortal Kombat and Street Fighter II. After playing them on PC, I started taking interest into the older titles at the arcade a lot more.

I question those picks. Pac-Man and Centipede I agree with. Although I always liked Mrs. Pac-Man better.

Never put much thought into this, but I'm thinking: Pole Position, Spy Hunter, Dig Dug, Gauntlet, Star Wars, Donkey Kong, Galaga and 1942 to round out that list. Zaxxon was pretty good too.

Idk about that off brand Galaga, never played it.
