Age of Mythology was a crappy rip off of Age of Empires. It was buggy and ran like crap. It could be argued that AoM was better than AoE but it was undeniably crap compared to AoE II

AoE 2 was the standard for competitive play, AoM was a casual friendly version with updated GFX and some cool titans to deploy.
