you're totally right. I'm not sure why i didn't see it that way to start with. you sure convinced me that I have a lot to learn about how to internet on this site. thanks wise sage. Heck, have another uppie pal.
Sigh. I hope you actually read this all.
Dude all I'm trying to get across is that all these very noble standards have little place in a small community.
For example if the admins one day decided that all users with the letter 'a' in their name had to pay $.10 per post, they'd be well within their legal rights to do so. It would be annoying. I would dislike it. But I wouldn't bitch about "muh freedoms" this is a small, private website that requires a login.
Facebook and other GIGANTIC websites fall under;
Marsh v. Alabama - free speech public domain private property (archive.md)
So any time anyone compares the two situations it's a false comparison.
The admins have no moral obligation, no legal obligation, and no contractual obligation to protect your or anyone's free speech through lack of censorship. The only obligations they have are to their hosting provider and to the state their servers are located in.
That's it.
Hm. Not sure what any of this has to do with the topic. On a site such as this, there are surely rules on how many posts per minute constitute spam. if .44 posts per minute is suspicious, how many posts is one reasonably free to make without rousing suspicion? How does one determine the limits of freedom without testing them? Surely this site is not claiming 100% freedom of speech, but the limits are quite grey as far as i can tell. I'm sure you love your job at Poal and are trying to do your best by your bosses, but to a new user this seems pretty heavy handed. Still you guys know your site the best. Thanks again buddy. I think you got me pointed in the right direction.
Yer a bit of alright.
