Designed in Sweden, not cheap, but I consider it a buy-once-cry-once deal. Some really smart design choices in there: https://omnifixo.com/en-eu/pages/more-information

These do look nice and (drool) so many special shapes. Bookmarked.

Most of my pliers are from Knipex, I buy Made in Germany, whenever I can. Also liking the ones from Wetec: https://shop.wetec.de/en/tools/pliers/wetec-ecotec/

You won't regret getting that little fixture, I promise.

I have several tools from knipex now almost 30 years old. Other than some worn teeth on what they call their water pump pliers they're still as good at the day I bought them, even after much use and abuse. 5 starts definitely recommend.

Burning question: how do you properly pronounce the name? In English the "k" is silent in words like knight, knife and knave so I have always pronounced it "nip-ex" but I've heard others pronounce it "ka-nip-ex". Which is correct?

K(a)-nip-ex, with the a after the K barely, if at all, audible. Go from the K right to the n, produces a kind of very short, breathy "H" sound. Takes some practice but there's plenty of German words like that: Knauf, Knödel, Knie, Knopf, knabbern, etc.

Another of life's mysteries solved. Thanks.

I've had some Knipex stuff over the years. Fantastic quality, high price...but well worth it because those are (used to be? Are they still good?) the very definition of "buy it and you may be able to wear it out in your lifetime."

Yeah, I'd still buy Knipex sight unseen. They haven't disappointed me yet. It's been about two years since my last purchase. (Large-ish bolt cutters).
