Meant to write this much earlier but, well, procrastination. OP: https://poal.co/s/Repair/758212 Turns out what I thought was a popcorned chip was only a sharpie mark on the label. My photo wasn't very good, I guess. I bought a used printer from someone, which had a paper feed problem and exchanged main boards. The original fault was indeed gone but now my printer had the feed problem. I had assumed it was only a mechanical issue on the used one. Damn. I switched the main boards again, hoping to keep using my original one with the annoying but manageable fault. Was sorely diappointed, when the paper feed problem now also occurred on my machine. Double damn. Ended up biting the bullet and buying a new printer. It's a Brother MFC-3760CDW and I'm happy with it so far. It's connected through WiFi and Linux detected both printer and scanner no problem at all, no special drivers needed.
