I was watching this video on new pipe and this guy pretty much said everything you said. It makes perfect sense. But then what are all these apparitions? Say for instance like at Lourdes? Is it just mania, demonic or just really simple people trying to cause a stir? I stopped going to church years ago because I felt the priest failed me at least with their lectures and don't do's. And then all of the rape and horrible things they've done to boys and girls. But you really don't need which is something that I believe in wholeheartedly a stage to speak with God. Because that's just theater for others.
Jesus stated that God's temple endwells with people who accept the holy Spirit and believe. The purpose of church is to strengthen each other, give purpose and direction to the spreading of the gospel, and to help direct us when we fall into sin. What we have now are denominations of Christianity that dictate entire life directions and condemn people for things that may or may now have importance. For example: baptists believe you are not saved until baptism. Calvinism believes that everything and every action is predetermined and if your not one of the elect, you can never be saved. The list goes on and on.
As far as modern miracles and events, I cannot speak on them. For example: if Lourdes is true, why not Joseph Smith? If the Virgin of Guadalupe is true, why not 7th day Revelation? When you get into miracles, it's sticky and tricky. I think what is important is to remember Who did the miracle, as opposed to the miracle itself. Think of the lepers, so happy to be healed, but forgot to thank the healer.
The gospel is simple. Believe that Christ died for your sins and adhere to him. Everything else is secondary. But that also means that the secondary stuff is irrelevant to salvation as long as faith in Jesus and our Father is there. It's why I hold the unpopular belief that rank and file Mormons are saved. But I think Satan can buddy the waters so much people forget how easy it is, and leads them away with side issues. IF I DON'T perform acts in church, I'm not saved, forgetting Jesus. If I don't knock on doors for 20 hours a week, I'm not saved. If I die without being dunked in water Jesus won't love me. Etc.
I think you've explained it well enough for me. And I do appreciate your time. It's amazing how far worshiping God has gone in the wrong direction for certain faiths. Catholics seem to be one of the worst offenders.
