I haven't said the rosary in a very long time probably since grammar school. I've made up my own way to use the beads which puts me into a meditative state which is pretty thrilling actually. I've been curious about Lourdes and how Mary appeared to the young girl. Mary had the rosary with her and this is what confuses me. Is it a tool from God or is it a tool from man and if it's from man why does Mary have it?

I really enjoy going to the Lourdes grotto just down the road from my father's house. It's completely ignored and is more or less falling apart. But to me that makes it more beautiful than sitting in a church adorned with gold and jewels and pageantry. Anyway if anyone has any thoughts or directions or things they want to share about this I'm all eyes.

You're gonna get different opinions from Catholics and Protestants.

I'm keeping my opinion quiet on this but those who know me know my stance.

Why not share? I'm no one to judge. Is Mary even a part of the Protestant faith? I know nothing about any of it. I glanced at Buddhism for a short period of time and then realized that it was just another religion that follows men in dresses. I keep coming back to my Catholic upbringing. I think the church is horribly broken but there's something in the basics of it that draw me back.

Because I'm too tired to get into a theological fight with Catholic Poalers....again....over the biblical passages stating that Mary, idols, and several other things are not part of the biblically laid out plan for a worshiper.

I think they're saved. I just think they're wasting their time and bordering on idol worship with the beads and prayers to Mary.

Well now that's interesting. We might have talked a long time ago about this already. About how God already knows everything that you're saying to God. So what's the point of prayer, just be good and get about your day. Anything else is just pagan and ritual.

I was watching this video on new pipe and this guy pretty much said everything you said. It makes perfect sense. But then what are all these apparitions? Say for instance like at Lourdes? Is it just mania, demonic or just really simple people trying to cause a stir? I stopped going to church years ago because I felt the priest failed me at least with their lectures and don't do's. And then all of the rape and horrible things they've done to boys and girls. But you really don't need which is something that I believe in wholeheartedly a stage to speak with God. Because that's just theater for others.

My personal thought is that if someone prays ten times more to Mary than to God, this is a problem. Also, Jesus is the only intermediary; nobody else.

6 Jesus *said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father except through Me. - John 14:6 (NASB)

I heard people say that they pray to Mary to ask Jesus, but why not pray directly to Jesus; especially if He literally said to go through Him.

That's a good point. I was also listening to something on new pipe today and the guy was saying the Bible says do not pray to dead people. So that would pretty much cut all the saints out and marry herself because she died. But I find it interesting is that you're really not even supposed to pray to God you're supposed to go through Jesus to God. which for me I've never done I've always just gone right to God.

Jesus told us how to pray in Matthew 6:9-13 (to the Father); but He also said that to reach the Father, we have to go through Him (the Son). But also, Jesus is God (John 1:1); so I don't think that it matters that much.

I think it's also important to note that, while there is no scripture that explicitly states it, we ARE instructed to pray always. Because of that, if being formal in prayers is all you do all day, it's difficult and bordering on impossible. I'm of the thought that Jesus wants to have real conversations with us, not formal fake prayers. You can't form a strong bond and be comfortable to talk to them if you're unable to HAVE a real conversation with them
