I don't know how anyone could believe in god when this kind of stuff happens.

Utter sophistry.

I believe in original sin, and how suffering is the result of man’s decision to choose evil over good from the beginning. So, this scenario falls perfectly in line with that.

If one player breaks the rule in a team sport game, is the rule maker or the judge to blame when the whole team suffers a penalty for it? Obviously, we would blame the team member who broke the rule in the first place.

There was a promise that there would be death as a result of sin. This is the long term effect. Be unhappy about it all you like, but it doesn’t invalidate the existence of even the most benevolent of creators.

There is no argument that can support the existence of a "benevolent" and "loving" god in the face of thing like this.

You can try to convince yourself that somehow the 2yo had it coming, that your god is still perfect. But at the very least you have to recognise why some of us will never be able to reconcile those facts.

The two year old didn’t “have it coming.” It’s man’s fault that there is death and suffering, not God’s.

The argument blaming God for tragedies is like saying a spoon manufacturer is responsible for childhood obesity.

Unless everything that happens is by your god's will, doesn't it?

One difference between a decent person and your god. A decent person would have helped if they could. I'm sure you would, that makes you morally superior to your god.

More silliness. I am not blaming your god for the tragedy. I am blaming him for not doing anything to save a poor innocent child from suffering terribly and starving to death. What is he doing anyway? What could possibly be taking up his time that he cannot help suffering children? People pray that their football team wins and give god the credit when they get a touchdown. Is that his bag? Pandering to sports teams around the planet? To busy to help a suffering child?
