By over 2000 years of papal law and tradition, Benedict remains the holder of the office of pope. The only way he can be relieved of that office is by his death. He is not dead. Therefore... Bergoglio holds only the properties, buildings and the accoutrements of pope. But he cannot hold the office as long as Benedict lives.
