Try the Berean Study Bible or NWT and you will never go back... The KJV is rife with translation errors, due to being translations translated from older translations... They even removed the name of God and replaced with "lord" []... Like for instance the addition of a Latin word "lucifer" and an entire false doctrine based on that error....
BSB fails the Colossians 1:14 test and NWT is used by Jehovah's Witnesses. Gonna have to pass on both.
If who printed the bible translation is a stumbling block for you, that is unfortunate... It does not matter who uses it IMO, the fact both are translated from the copies of the originals into the language being written is very important for my choice of bible. Not from hebrew/greek to latin to english things get lost in translation...
What is this Colossians 1:14 test your talking about because verse 15 to 23 will clear up a common doctrinal lie, so is it possible the test could be flawed especially if from those who push the common lie...

Do you care who cooks your food? Yes it matters who is funding and printing your bible. For example the the NIV is funded by Rupert Murdoch, a man who also owns pornography companies.
lost in translation
Impossible. Psalm 12 says the words of God will be kept and preserved. Where has he been keeping them? If you think you need to dig into ancient manuscripts to salvage the "true" words, you're basically saying God lied.
Colossians 1:14 is my own personal test to see if a bible version is worth my time. The KJV says "redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins." Modern versions remove any mention of blood.
