BSB fails the Colossians 1:14 test and NWT is used by Jehovah's Witnesses. Gonna have to pass on both.
If who printed the bible translation is a stumbling block for you, that is unfortunate... It does not matter who uses it IMO, the fact both are translated from the copies of the originals into the language being written is very important for my choice of bible. Not from hebrew/greek to latin to english things get lost in translation...
What is this Colossians 1:14 test your talking about because verse 15 to 23 will clear up a common doctrinal lie, so is it possible the test could be flawed especially if from those who push the common lie...
If who printed the bible translation is a stumbling block for you
Do you care who cooks your food? Yes it matters who is funding and printing your bible. For example the the NIV is funded by Rupert Murdoch, a man who also owns pornography companies.
lost in translation
Impossible. Psalm 12 says the words of God will be kept and preserved. Where has he been keeping them? If you think you need to dig into ancient manuscripts to salvage the "true" words, you're basically saying God lied.
Colossians 1:14 is my own personal test to see if a bible version is worth my time. The KJV says "redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins." Modern versions remove any mention of blood.
Yeah, I see, but in the BSB link I sent you notes the blood in the footnote so does that count... We both know the means of redemption but don't focus overmuch on the blood but the fulfillment of the sin sacrifice... Gods word has been preserved in the copies of the originals... Hence my reasoning of direct translation in modern language rather than a dead language also a big plus... Many things get lost in translation when you translate into Latin then use those same translations hundreds of years later into english/french/german/etc after you allow people to own bibles again
One thing that aggravates me about most bibles today is the removal of God's name, while on the other hand they say "blessed be your name" yet how often do they say his name...
I have never really cared for the NIV and had no idea the man behind it... I cook my own food, have you ever been to a printing facility for NWT and other materials. Maybe you should and ask about who prints the material
Let me tell you an experience I had not too long ago... A discussion with a person who claimed "Christianity was a blood cult" and a copycat of some post Abraham pagan beliefs after prophecy became known... he got soundly rebuked... Don't focus on the blood as the pagans do. The purpose of the blood in this context is "to make atonement for our souls" ... Leviticus 17:10-14...
Seems we are both picky when it comes to bible, just make sure it is not your choice because your comfortable with it yet somewhere inside you know there is a better product out there... My suggestion, don't be stuck with a bible printed before the time knowledge increased around or before the time the red horse rode and onwards... Don't ignore Daniel's words about this time...GB
