Atheism is not an affirmative denial of the existence of a "god." Atheism is the position that there is no conclusive evidence of a god.
Think of Schroeder's Box: the theist says, "I believe the cat is dead." The atheist says, "I see no evidence that the cat is dead, so I have no reason to believe that the cat is dead."
Semantics
Incorrect. the prefix A = No. The word Theist = God. The position you just tried to attach to Atheism is called Agnosticism, i.e No Knowledge.
Theist != God. A theist is a person who believes in a god(s). Therefore, atheist is one who does not believe in a god(s).
I'll double down onmy Semantics game!
Incorrect. You are trying to attach meanings to words that are simply not true. Again, the position you are trying to ascribe to Atheist has its own word, Agnostic.
So what? It doesn't mean our minds can't be changed with proof. I would love to believe in a god, I did growing up. I just don't and it's depressing. I've tried to force it because life was more beautiful and magical when I believed.
