Regarding the question of whether there is a God, there are exactly two Logical positions.

  1. I know there is a God

  2. I do not know if there is a God

All other positions require Belief, and this definitely includes Atheism.

In addition to this simple axiom, there is also something else to consider:

If you are able to formulate the question of whether there is a God, there is an omnipresent candidate for God which can not be excluded.

Atheism is a dark and diabolical Mind Prison. To escape, just use the key of Logic to set yourself free and let your mind shine.

For the record: I posted this in s/Tellpoal. This is about Logic, and not the Social Construct of Religion.

So if I ask if there is a dildo up your ass the mere formulation of the question ensures that there is a candidate for a dildo that can not be excluded.

Strawman including an Ad Hominem attack

Two Logical Fallacies do not disprove anything.

Responding by pointing out logical fallacies is a logical fallacy.

Incorrect.

Only if the dildo is your conceptualization of omnipresence and omnipotence.

there are exactly two Logical positions.

  1. I know there is a God

  2. I do not know if there is a God

This is incorrect. You cannot logically "know" there is a God, because no logical test can account for what is outside of our universe.

The belief in a God, or a belief there is no God is exactly that, a belief. You CANNOT prove nor disprove the existence of a God.

If you are under the impression that a belief in a God is logical, rational, and provable, you have missed the cornerstone of religion: Faith.

A belief that there is no God takes just as much faith as a belief in a God.

You cannot logically "know" there is a God

Incorrect. By definition God would know he existed. You are also delving into Nihilism here and rejecting the idea of Personal Knowledge.

you have missed the cornerstone of religion: Faith.

Incorrect, I addressed it directly. Faith is a synonym for Belief.

Again: There are exactly two logical positions regarding the existence of God.

  1. I know there is a God

  2. I do not know if there is a God

All other positions require Belief.

Incorrect. By definition God would know he existed.

What God? You mean this God you cannot prove exists? How does this in any way refute my statement that one cannot logically "know" there is a God. You responded by saying "God knows he exists, therefore God exists."

Incorrect, I addressed it directly. Faith is a synonym for Belief.

LOL. You just said Faith and Belief are synonymous. In that case, let's try this

"you have missed the cornerstone of religion: Belief."

You literally didn't address a single point I made. You basically just claimed I'm wrong and restated your initial points.

You mean this God you cannot prove exists?

I did not say there was a God. You are simply making thing up and then acting upon your delusions as if they were real.

Religion Belief Faith

This isn't about Religion, or God for that matter. You think this post is about proving the existence of God, and that is not the case. The issue at hand here is whether you have a functioning mind and abide by logic, and your immediate retreat to Nihilism and Strawman arguments shows that you have failed this test.

Where does Agnosticism goes in your statement?

[–] [deleted] 2 pts

The prefix A = No. Gnostic = Knowledge. Agnosticism = position #2

[–] 1 pt

What goes in position #1?

If you know there is a God, then your position would be #1. For a Solipsist, this would limit this position to God only.

[–] 0 pt

The most accurate answer would be: "I dunno".

Unless you know there is a God. "I dunno" is Position #2.

Whether you know there is a God or you don't know there is a God has nothing to do with whether there is or is not a God.

[–] 1 pt (edited )

Atheism is not an affirmative denial of the existence of a "god." Atheism is the position that there is no conclusive evidence of a god.

Think of Schroeder's Box: the theist says, "I believe the cat is dead." The atheist says, "I see no evidence that the cat is dead, so I have no reason to believe that the cat is dead."

Semantics

Incorrect. the prefix A = No. The word Theist = God. The position you just tried to attach to Atheism is called Agnosticism, i.e No Knowledge.

[–] 0 pt

Theist != God. A theist is a person who believes in a god(s). Therefore, atheist is one who does not believe in a god(s).

I'll double down onmy Semantics game!

Incorrect. You are trying to attach meanings to words that are simply not true. Again, the position you are trying to ascribe to Atheist has its own word, Agnostic.

So what? It doesn't mean our minds can't be changed with proof. I would love to believe in a god, I did growing up. I just don't and it's depressing. I've tried to force it because life was more beautiful and magical when I believed.

Atheism is a dead end. And it is also narrow-minded and short-sighted. Atheists lack imagination. They assume that what they themselves perceive, either directly through their senses or by extension, is all that exists. This assumption is, to say the least, arrogant. An atheist takes the same basic view of the world that is assumed by science -- if you can't record it and measure it and test it, then it isn't real. Science is an incredibly limited tool of human investigation that is incapable of dealing with anything other than what is tangible and material, yet it has been elevated to the height of a new religion, particularly by atheists -- a religion that rejects the spirit. Atheists limit their own potential needlessly, and they do so with the self-righteousness of a religious fanatic.

Well said. There is also a circular relationship between Atheism and Nihilism. Any defense of Atheism will always lead to Nihilism, and Nihilism by its rejection of Truth leads directly to Atheism.
