Thanks to for suggesting that this might be gout and providing some reading materials for me.

I read through those and some others and decided I would try and treat it myself before going in for an x-ray.

The treatment I found had 6 things to try: 1. Celery seed extract (or celery juice) 2. Black cherry juice 3. Stinging nettle tea 4. Fish oil 5. Bromelyn 6. Magnesium

I have a bunch of celery and cod liver oil, so I downed some cod liver oil and have been munching on celery all day and drinking a ton of alkaline water. It went from not being able to put any weight on it when I woke up this morning to I can stand on the sore foot right now and walk around.

Gout is usually caused by a shitty diet loaded in sugar and carbs, which is not me. It can also be caused by not drinking enough water because your body wants to piss it out, and when it can't due to not enough water, it accumulates in joints, most notably the big toe, then crystals form and it causes pain. That is me.

I was avoiding the water because I didn't like having to piss all the time, but pissing a dozen times a day is way less of an inconvenience than not being able to stand on your own foot, or going through a bunch of pain to put on your socks and shoes.

So there it is. Drink good water often so you don't have to go through needless pain.

Dehydrating yourself so you don't have to piss is a bad idea. It can cause a lot more than gout.

When you age your sense of thirst fades, which adds to the problem.

Half your bodyweight in ounces per day is the bare minimum, more is better. Make sure you are filtering out Fluoride and other toxic bullshit if it's tap. Berkey filters with the fluoride filter add on are great and last for years before needing filter changes. Take a multi-vitamin and make sure you are taking D3, K2, and C supplements.

Thanks for the info. 85 ounces of water is do able. Hell, there are fat fucks who pound back more than that in one sugary sitting at Starbucks.

I don't drink tap water, just spring water (from an actual spring, not the filtered water that is bottled and passed off as spring water).

Makes sense about the not feeling thrifty as we age, I noticed around 20 years ago when my ravenous appetite that I had since I was 11 or so just vanished seemingly over night

Too much water washes out your minerals and vitamins so you can drink too much. The color of your piss tells you where you're at better than a set generic amount per body weight.

Last night it was dark yellow like cat piss. Today, it was lighter shades of yellow and once clear.
