Hard to get a good picture, but that gap in the cuticle looks. Looks like it stops there, just being held on by the unsmashed part of the finger. Time will tell. Sucks cause I mostly finger pick when I get a minute to pick up the guitar.

Yeah, breaking a nail sucks. Even more so when you need to use them. Gloves may have helped but hey, what if's and maybes huh?

Pretty sure I was wearing gloves. I don't know why they didn't magically repell the source of harm. Must have been wearing them backwards I guess.

When I was a kid in construction, the guys used to drill a small hole in the nail to relieve the pressure, let the blood and puss out to save the nail and relieve pain.

Yeah, I just used the finger regardless. She popped her own hole, bled on some fence posts, but the pressure went down.
