It's such a weird feeling. We knew each other through an old online game we both played for a long time. We'd meet up 3-4 times a week for almost 2yrs. Sometimes we'd bullshit and talk for an hour before we'd even play the game.
He was easily one of the best players on the server bur we'd just grab our friends, throw down and chill out.
Recently his son got online and told us that he'd passed away in early October. It's a weird feeling I have now and I'm trying to figure out why this bothers me. I never met the guy, I think I only heard him in voice one night, but he was a real one.
It's making me realize that I haven't had anyone else I felt was close to me pass away yet, and that was just a video game buddy. When you get a taste of grief and realize it was only a taste...

Tim knows https://youtu.be/HmeLhwGRTn4 and a friend is a friend and that is that. No need to try to quantify or minimalize a friend w/ explanations like 'online firend'... if their passing made you feel like shit then your grief is real and your friendship was.
