Just something to check:

It is likely that you start the chainsaws with the chain brake engaged. However, as illogical and dangerous as it is, I've seen some chainsaws that will not start if the chain brake is engaged. It would seem that the brake on them doesn't just stop the chain from moving, but kills the motor and also prevents it from being started while engaged.
