B) Takes away willingness to accept bribes when the job pays so well, you wouldn't want to jeopardize it.

I remember a great article about how the rulers should be rich/noble Christian gentlemen. Rich because then they are less prone to accept bribes. I prefer something like that over high salaries, because high salaries attract psychopaths who only care about the money.
I don't know if I am right but like how I imagine noble scientists in previous eras. They didn't do science to make money. The did science because they had money and spare time and science was their obsession/hobby.

We live in a backwards society that imagines these people need to slave away for pittance, and the result we get is corruption and marxist classrooms.
The best minds and spiritual leaders never waste their time in a classroom or church, to who's fault but our own.
