Engineering project coordinator. Went upstairs to my buddy who’s a project manager, asked him “dumb question of the day, what the fuck does this job actually entail?” It is as (relatively) simple as described. Hell, I’ve done those tasks rather successfully as dept supervisor and inventory manager for the past year. Worked on an internal résumé last few days and submitted tonight. My “number one” guy ain’t ready to do what I do, but I figure the position could expand so I can continue to attend to the high-level tasks I have. I’m a friendly guy and work real well getting other departments to get tasks done. Plus I’d get to help design stuff!

Thanks! My bud isn’t the guy hiring me, but I told him I figured I’d spend at least a few years in my current role before moving to engineering, and joked that I’d apply just so they’d they’d tell me what I gotta learn. More I thought about it, I’d be leveraging others’ design expertise, so I ain’t far off at all. Biggest thing I’d think is getting it done. My empathy and sincerity may win it.
