Well yeah, they're loaded with bacteria. You should gas them.

One thing that stuck in my memory about cockroaches is that you never step on them to crush them with your shoes/boots because they carry their eggs on their back and after you crush them you track/transport/relocate/spread their eggs everywhere you walk.

Never really cared to look it up for accuracy as I don't live in a cockroach/nigger-infested area.
