Found out today I can get some very good speakers for less than half-price thru a deal via work. So I can spend around a paycheck and a half to have a pair of near-top tier speakers (ranked by linearity, not marketing bullshit or aesthetics). I listened to these speakers when engineers were doing some comparisons, and holy jeez do they sound great. I’m honesty pretty excited at the prospect, and motivated to save bux and finish my “studio/ reference” room. I’ve always been a speaker nerd, and now I can have truly captivating sound. Classic county and swamp rock will be sweet, as well as all “audiophile” lauded albums. Classical music will be mind-blowing.

Edit: for comparison, these and accessories would be 10x the price of my first decent Sony rig as a kid. Diminishing returns…

I always consider whether it's a "buy it for life" item. Like you'll never have to even consider or look at speakers ever again.

Hmm well they’d be a lil more speaker than needed for the current room, and plenty for any room after. Yea pretty much end-game. Could buy smaller ones for surrounds if I want to go whole-hog on home theatre. Not that I don’t have other speakers…
