Podman does everything Docker does

Not true. If it did more people would be using it. Hint hint. They're not.

podman-docker you can continue to use your docker commands / scripts you have created with an open source solution.

Very limited. Another false claim. Docker is also open source.

Systemd - Without a daemon, Podman needs another tool to manage services and support running containers in the background. Systemd creates control units for existing containers or to generate new ones. Systemd can also be integrated with Podman allowing it to run containers with systemd enabled by default, without any modification.

By using systemd, vendors can install, run, and manage their applications as containers since most are now exclusively packaged and delivered this way.

Systemd is a required dependency? If so, booooooooooo. Systemd is cancer. I would never recommend any software which requires systemd as a dependency. Please tell me it doesn't have systemd as a dep.

Not as a dependency, only for service controls (start/stop/restart) - and this is something you have to configure. In my case I want the service running on boot and it's the easy option, but I appreciate that it's far from the simplicity of init.d

Architecture - Docker uses a daemon, an ongoing program running in the background, to create images and run containers. Podman has a daemon-less architecture which means it can run containers under the user starting the container. Docker has a client-server logic mediated by a daemon; Podman does not need the mediator.

Make a podman sub and put your info there. That's not what this sub is for.

Seems relevant to point out that docker, like java, decided to go for a money grab after acquiring a massive market share. In both cases a foss solution popped-up to save businesses that didn't have the surplus cash to start paying for a product they understood was free and built their tech stack on.

Kunernette became the standard the day docker made their announcement, podman is the transitional tool.

Don't hate the messenger, hate the companies that change their licensing model to generate revenue after everyone is locked in on their solution. If someone is considering docker they should know there is a foss alternative they might want to also evaluate.

Don't hate the messenger

I'm not. But that's not what the sub is for. Docker is free for anyone to use. Nobody on Poal is using Docker business edition. I do not like Podman. It is not 100% compatible like they say. And CentOS sucks dick. You want more people to use podman talk to container developers. Everyone uses docker everyone is used to docker. Podman will never get big.

What? Can't hear you over the 8086 assembly on my Tandy 1000 in Borland Turbo Assembler v2.
