Sea lice. Once upon a time I worked on a small commercial fishing boat in New Zealand. We would put nets down that were about a mile long, let them set for at least 4 hours before pulling them up. Sometimes if we left them down too long some of the fish would be hollow, just the head and the skin, sometimes the lice would still be inside them and spill out the gills and anus of the fish as we pulled it up.
