Kubrick directed "2001: A Space Odyssey" which was based on Clarke's book of the same name. It is a science fiction story, so they visited the boys at NASA.

Until I fly in a rocket myself, I can’t say with 100% certainty that what we know about space isn’t a lie, but I believe most of it.

Authors and directors spend time with people who experience the real-life versions of their characters all the time, and successful sci-fi writers spending time at nasa legitimately isn’t strange at all.

This post is dumb

Clarke wrote 2001 based on Kubrick’s film, not the other way around.

Clark write short story, Kubrick love it, so they start work on expanding story. Story barely have enough material for couple minutes long short movie. So, in fact movie and book develop simultaneously... based on short story. On YouTube can find couple documentary , there is also book about this topic written by Clark. However try to find original story, it's worth your time.

I’ve watched hours of material on the subject. Rob Ager’s work on the subject is impressive.
