Kayaking for 10 days with whatever you can cram into the boat
I'd never considered kayaking before.
It had always seemed too easy.
Too simple.
Too gay.
A closed top boat where there is no chance of your boat sinking, because you are wearing a "skirt" that keeps the boat from taking on any water...
Kinda faggy when you think about it.
That's why I always canoed in my younger years.
Whitewater canoeing was always my favorite.
You sit higher in the water than in a kayak.
Your balance has to be better.
You only have one paddle.
If you capsize, righting yourself is an actual challenge, since you are paddling and open hulled boat.
The water works against you. The gunnels work against you. The height of the boat works against you.
The only thing you have is your own skill, and experience, working for you.
I was going down a class 6 rapid in a canoe.
I got stuck in a hole and nearly drowned.
Afterwards, my ears nearly got taken off by a strainer.
And now, I am too old.
So I am out, on this gay Ocean Kayak.
With 10 days work of food.
On a 20 day journey.
To the open water.
Some states don't consider kayaks as boats. So which one is it?
