Casually discussing the monkeypox fiasco with a coworker, when another coworker walks up and gets involved in the discussion. She eventually steers the conversation toward abortion with the statement, "Kids wouldn't be getting hurt if Biden wasn't forcing us to have them."

Naturally this launches a debate. First I correct her on the Biden detail, then I state my pro-life position. Woman was utterly mortified and jumps into the rape cases and mother-endangering arguments. I acknowledge her concerns and explain that those are the rare and unfortunate cases, and that most women advocating for abortion perhaps need to just stop having sex (pissed her right off lol). She tells me men need to stop jacking off and killing kids that way, I say those aren't kids, she says fetuses aren't kids, yadda yadda. Usual abortion arguments. I had to stop arguing with her, my efforts seemed futile.

How do I get through to someone like this? She doesn't even hear herself deny the fetus is a life and proceed to say she'd kill her next pregnancy if it happened.

Left out some of the specifics of the debate, this isn't a play-by-play post.

You can lead a nag to knowledge, but you can't make her think.

Jesus cautioned against casting your pearls before swine, lest they trample them underfoot into the mud, then turn and rend you with their tusks.

When the student is ready, the teacher appears.

Awakening is like a good soufflé -- it can't be hurried or it will collapse in upon itself.

A fetus is principally viable due to its complete human chromosome, a sperm is only half, wasting sperm cannot be compared to killing a fetus, sperm cells are not limited by anything other than a heart beat and intact testes, eggs are time limited, they are finite and degrade over time. Sperm degrade thousands of times faster and are replaced quickly and regular ejaculation is healthy for a man's reproductive health.

Point, counterpoint on masturbation: the religipis example of masturbation as immoral is removed from context, a son of judah spilled his seed on the ground and was struck by lightning, he wasn't masturbating though, he was commanded by God to impregnate his dread brother's widow, that her son inherit her dead husband's portion of their father's inheritance. He fucked her and pulled out and nutted on the dirt in their tent. He directly disobeyed God and dishonored his sister in law. Counterpoint, excessive masturbation and even ejaculation will drain you of your male vitality and the science and countless examples demonstrate this, porn addiction will damage your brain and mind.

These aren't rational people, you can't reason with them and you will never change their minds through debate. They respond to social pressure and emotions. If you can get them in a situation where all their peers believe something, they'll believe it eventually too. You might be able to work through their emotional reasoning and guide their feelings, but the best way to get through to them is to find a way to get two of their feelings about an issue to contradict each other so that it creates severe enough cognitive dissonance which forces them to process the conflict rationally in order to resolve it. Easier said than done, though.

... find a way to get two of their feelings about an issue to contradict each other ...

That's the easy part.

... so that it creates severe enough cognitive dissonance which forces them to process the conflict rationally in order to resolve it.

That doesn't work because they are not only used to live with severe cognitive dissonance (doublethink, as George Orwell called it), but it's part of their training as cult members. They don't feel the need to resolve the conflict because their peers don't do that either.

They are all part of a gigantic Ash experiment and can only change when their peers do it first, or by changing their peer group. Maybe you can change their coworker peer group one by one, but most likely their online peer group is much stronger.

Should have told her she's killing children when she menstrates.

Somehow I think she'd welcome the concept with open arms...

This is technically true if, during her menstruation, she sheds fertilized eggs unknowingly. Because, I assume, you believe life begins at conception?

Unfortunately, there is no real argument to make here until science answers the question of "when does consciousness enter the fetus and life begin?" But science cannot answer many questions with regards to consciousness, due to the nature of the observer being within the experiment.

The best case is for women to avoid this tricky situation at all costs. The Bible Old Testament recommends a herbal abortative medicine to help women miscarry, which many tribal cultures used to practice. But I agree with you, that today's issue of modern abortion has become Judaized, weaponized, and highly grotesque.

Try appealing to her compassion. Women are empathic animals. Try to ask "how does she know when life begins?" because no one knows.

Life at conception, simply put. And since science CAN'T prove consciousness, I'm of the thought of not taking a chance regarding killing a life, the consciousness could very well be day 1.

She won't listen, there is the me to movement. But her argument is so selfish she shows she's into the me only movement where only herself matters and fuck everyone else.

Sick part is that she has three kids.

those are the collateral for the child support payments.

In cases like this, you don't debate to convince the opposite party. You debate to convince bystanders.

Didn't work this time, I think. Satan's spawn has a sharp tongue and a loud mouth.

Praying she doesn't have sons.

If jerking off and wasting sperm makes you a murderer, then every period she bled out an unused egg and didn't die made her one as well. Life sparks at the union. But yea - a discussion that far with a coworker is ill advised these days. It's emotion vs. logic at that point and you're not leading a win into enlightenment. They've already double downed on stupid just to attempt to stay on top of an argument.

Tell her if we put her in an adult sized womb could we abort her?

Toothpick her eyelids open and force feed her dead fetus pics for 2 hours.

oh dear poor you.

anniversary?

/me hides

Just quote Slick Willly's "safe, legal and rare". Ask them to agree that doctors should only safely abort babies, legally, in the rare instances of rape and immediate peril of death situatons. And call this common-sense abortion law that deserves bi-partisan support.

The problem with exceptions is that soon, everything becomes an exception. Yes, the slippery slope syndrome.
