You can thread them clockwise?
Lefties I presume. Dominant hand inserts the belt, so left-handed would naturally stick the end of the belt through the first loop on the right side and thread clockwise. Righties insert to the left loop and thread counter/anticlockwise.
I am left handed. It is counter clockwise. Most belts have a design on them that isn't universal or at the very least a tag somewhere with words.
Oh, I've never encountered a belt in my life that was not universal and required being threaded* in a specific direction. Using my right hand to feed the belt into my right loop just now as you do with your left into the left loop feels very awkward to me, but that's likely due to simply being opposite of how I normally do it.
Edit: After giving it more thought, I do recall now that back in Boy Scouts the scout uniform belt required being threaded in clockwise. That was due to the metal plate on the front of the belt wrapping over the top and being open on the underside, so threading counterclockwise would put the wrap-over plate on the underside and the top would be open. Now I remember it being annoying that I needed to do it 'backward' only for my scout belt.
