If russia is shaking the global banking cartel, it's a side effect. Like any other nation when things come its way, russia is satisfied. If the cartel was russia friendly, russia would go along with it evidently, but that's not the case. NATO not only was installing itself in ukraine, it was also backing a government enacting anti russian policies, on its own soil, against russian speaking ethnic groups... I mean the message is pretty clear, they aren't there to befriend russia
So since you can't let that go on forever, for obvious reasons, well you take the initiative and yeah, stuffs get wrecked
But that's really because of geostrategic concerns that russia has moved, because of a red line being crossed when it comes to it. Not because they decided to take on the global banking cartel, because that's not something you want to do if you can avoid that

look at moscow look at the border with ukraine; if ukraine doesn't remain neutral you have a gigantic line to defend right near moscow. It's hardly defensible
